Product description

The "GSV-6GW" gateway handles the acquisition of measurement data, local data storage (up to 128 GB), and data transmission to the "cloud." Data transmission is managed by a high-performance modem featuring 5G RedCap technology with 4G/LTE fallback. It delivers download speeds of up to 223 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 123 Mbit/s.

Its broad frequency band support—ranging from 700 MHz to 3500 MHz—covers the following regions:

EU, Great Britain, Switzerland, and the rest of Europe
USA and Canada
Central and South America
Australia and New Zealand
Large parts of Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
In its standard configuration, the GSV-6GW acquires measurement data via a CAN bus. "CAN nodes" are connected using standard sensor-actuator cables with M12 connectors. Connected nodes include, for example, GSV-6T3 measuring amplifiers or the MTi-620 inertial measurement unit (IMU). This makes the GSV-6GW suitable for measuring strain (using strain gauges), forces, and moments, as well as acceleration and signals from digital pulse generators; it also enables the measurement of roll, pitch, and yaw with an accuracy of 0.2°.

In addition to CAN bus acquisition, measurement data can also be transmitted via a 2.4 GHz wireless connection. Areas of application include, for example:

Measurement of loads and accelerations on floating solar arrays (Floating Photovoltaics/FPV),
Measurement of loads and accelerations on road vehicles, rail vehicles, and aircraft, combined with precise 3D orientation tracking,
Measurements in medical technology, rehabilitation, and sports.
The GSV-6GW supports the following operating modes:

"Active": The GSV-6GW remains permanently powered on. Power consumption is approximately 5 W.
"Sleep": The GSV-6GW automatically wakes up at intervals ranging from once every 15 minutes to once a day to perform measurements for a configured duration (e.g., 30 seconds). When in the sleep state, current consumption is less than 1 mA.
In both modes, it acquires measurement data from the nodes at rates between 10 Hz and 500 Hz and calculates the mean, maximum, and minimum values over the configured duration. This "Min-Max-Mean" configuration achieves data reduction through statistical aggregation, while preserving information such as vibration amplitude.

In addition to the Min-Max-Mean configuration, the device also supports the recording and transmission of all measurement data in "Raw" configuration.

The transition from the Min-Max-Mean configuration to the "Raw" configuration occurs automatically—for example, based on preset thresholds or via an external trigger signal. The external trigger remains effective even when the GSV-6GW is in sleep mode; the delay before data acquisition begins is approximately 30 seconds. The duration for recording measurement data in "Raw" configuration is configurable (e.g., 5 minutes).

The operating voltage range is 9 V to 28 V. An internal battery enables off-grid operation for up to two hours. An external solar panel with a battery is available for autonomous operation.

The GSV-6GW can also be accessed via the mobile network through a dedicated website. Measurement data is hosted and graphically displayed on a server belonging to ME-Meßsysteme GmbH or on a customer-owned server. "Grafana" is used for visualization and alarm functions. Measurement data is stored on an Influx server (version 2).
