Problems with battery indicator in i5500 shutting off phone.

Good day!
We are installing MobileWebCam in Model Airplane Airfields in Iceland. One is already installed as a test, and another will be ready in a few days.
The GSM used is Samsung i5500.
Works well, except one problem:
The problem is as follows:
The charge indicator on the phone display, and the charge indicator on the pictures stored on OpenWebCam becomes progressively lower and lower, although the voltage of the lithium GSM battery remains correct (3.9 volts). The indication starts at about 60% and then decreases during the next week or so until the GSM switches off.
If I measure the battery voltage after the phone switches off, then it is OK at 3.9 V, and if I switch on the phone the battery indicator shows immediadely about 60%.
It is as there is some software counter operating and decreasing the battery indicator slowly, although the battery voltage is OK. It may be baecause the battery is charged directely, but not through the phone's charging system.
The test setup at the airfield is http://www.agust.net/rc/webcam/
The plan is to install MobileWebCam units at all model airplane fields.
(This URL will be changed after the test).
Any ideas how to solve this?
Regards
Agust
